My First-Year as a Nursing Student

SMART GOALS

Goal 1: Administer Medications Without Error

S- I will become confident and comfortable with dosing patients independently. This will be accomplished by taking my time with calculations and asking for clarification from other staff members before I administer any medications.

M-I will measure this goal by obtaining a zero percent error rate from the medications I dose.

A-This goal is attainable as it has been thoroughly practiced through SafeMedicate exercises. Adequate instructions have also been given about how to properly calculate dosages.

R-Being able to properly administer medications without error is realistic as it is a necessary skill all nurses should aim for to ensure patient safety. This goal requires patience and attention and can be fully practiced with each client.

T-This goal should be met throughout my entire nursing career, but for the purposes of the winter clinical rotation in 2021, I will have achieved a zero percent error rate by the end of my placement in April 2021.
